There's a camera bonded to the top of your BrightDrop windshield. It runs the automatic braking, lane keeping, and pedestrian detection your drivers rely on all day. Replace the glass without recalibrating that camera and those systems can misfire — or go quiet. Here's the straight version:
What it is
BrightDrop ships with 20+ standard driver-assist features. The forward-facing camera that powers most of them is mounted to the windshield glass.
What happens during replacement
Removing the windshield disturbs that camera's aim. Even a fraction of a degree off means the safety systems read the road wrong.
When calibration is required
Every BrightDrop windshield replacement needs a recalibration. There is no camera-equipped trim that skips it — it's standard across 400 and 600.
